Tokyo Grill

This small restaurant (and it really is small) is located on Yonge St just three stores north of Wellesley on the west side of Yonge.

this was a little different than the Japanese restaurants I usually go to. Usually most Japanese restaurants I go to serve the sashimi, sushi, things like that. I am not sure if this one does, but on the menu is all dishes. So i will tell you about the ones I ate.

Ebi Fry - This is a fried shrimp with some salad on the side with some white rice. The shrimp is basically tempura, but I found the batter to be slightly heavier, and there is something surrounding the shrimp, perhaps it's just batter. But I did not find it too heavy and it was pretty good. It came with some sort of dipping sauce that was not the nicest colour, however it tasted kind of tangy, and was not horrible, and added some flavour too. I would say it's pretty good, so worth trying if you go.

Croquette - This is also a fried item. It's potato with these meat bits inside. It was an appetizer, was good too. Wasn't anything spectacular, the sauce it came with made it a little better.

Okasaya Dong - Not sure about the name, had a hard time remembering it. This is a rice dish, it has onions, eggs and chicken. It did not have much flavour, but because it was kind of light, despite being carbohydrates, it was a good dinner selection.

All in all, this place was good, not too pricy either. I wouldn't say any of the food was great, because I was not overly impressed with any of the food. However there was also nothing wrong with any of the food either, which makes it worth a second time.

The reason we went here is because a japanese girl recommended it. And when someone japanese recommends a Japanese restaurant, it must be good. However although we were not impressed, I think this girl liked it because it tasted more like authentic Japanese food, as opposed to some other sushi places.

I don't have much to rate this against, so I'd give it a 3.2/5.0
